First of all, I am subbing for first grade today & I am always so happy to accept subbing jobs in the primary grades & get back in the classroom. Most of the time I get called for the older grades; I have a sub job for a high school senior chemistry class on Thursday and I couldn't be more terrified! It's only a half day job, though, so I think I'll survive...hopefully!
Secondly, I woke up early enough to make a pre-subbing trip to Starbucks, which is one of my favorite ways to start my day! Thank you Sub Finder for calling me last night so I could plan accordingly :) Cinnamon Dolce latte comin' my way!
And lastly, Tuesday nights is the "$6.50 movie & free popcorn" night at my local theater.
It has been far too long since I have taken advantage of this bargain deal &
so me, Lindsay & our boyfriends have planned a double date for tonight :)
My vote for the movie choice is Hop! How cute does this look?
I am such a kid.
As if I wasn't already sold by the fact that it's brought to you by the makers of Despicable Me (one of the cutest movies EVER!), I love me some James Marsden.
SO cute!!
If it doesn't make the cut for date night, I will surely see this soon! Will you see it? There are lots of great movies out now; have you seen any good flicks recently?
SO, I did not blog yesterday because I was busy scrambling to pack all day! I made the last minute decision to join my cousins, aunt, and mom on a road trip to Myrtle Beach! My younger cousins are on a competitive cheerleading squad called North Coast All-Stars (which is actually my old competitive cheerleading squads' rivals, but I still support them of course! :) They rock!) The 2-day competition will take place over the weekend and following week is the girls' spring break. My uncle couldn't make it because of work so my mom offered to keep my aunt company on the ride and help out with the girls, and there was extra space so they invited me along too!
Who is able to pack up and leave at the drop of a hat, you wonder?
What about work, you ask?
I haven't posted about work lately (I've been too busy gabbing about shopping!), but for the update I gave my 2 weeks notice at the restaurant (2 weeks ago) because I accepted a new job as co-director of the summer camp that I worked at last summer, which I am very excited about! Yesterday was my last day of work at the restaurant, which was bittersweet, but it was perfect timing because I was able to go on this trip! Also, because it will be spring break for the schools, I won't be getting any subbing jobs either, so I figured what the heck, there's really NO reason not to go! The only thing on my "reasons not to go" list was the fact that I will miss my friends, cat, and boyfriend...but I think they will somehow manage without me :P
We drove 8 hours today and just arrived in North Carolina, where we will be spending the night. We have a 4 hour drive tomorrow and then we will arrive here:
Ohhhh yeaaa baby! :)
It is currently 77 degrees in Myrtle, 60 in Greensboro (where we are now), and 33 back home in Cleveland! This brings a huge smile to my face :) BUT I'm knockin' on wood because there is a chance of rain in the 10 day forecast.
We just got back from dinner at a local Italian restaurant called L'Italiano Ristorante and it was DELISH! I'm so glad we didn't judge the place by the outside appearance because it was some of the best Italian food I've had, and I work(ed) in an Italian restaurant. I got the lobster ravioli in a pink vodka sauce and it was to die for! I shouldn't have done it, but I also got tiramisu, one of my favorites...and ohhhhh baby! YUM :) Currently in a food coma...
I can feel myself tensing up and feel like I have to hurry around as if I have somewhere to be or something to do...I am going to switch into relaxation mode right NOW! It's hard though, this is the first time EVER that I don't have something to worry about...the two glasses of Riesling I had at dinner are helping me chill out a little bit :)
I am excited that I can FINALLY finish reading The Undomestic Goddess on this trip, which I haven't picked up in weeks because I just haven't had the time. I also bought Water for Elephants! The trailer looks really good, and I've only heard good things about the book!
Since Cody is in recovery mode, we have been watching A LOT of movies! (I also am trying my darnedest to get him addicted to Friends and I like to think I am succeeding) We are dorks and have made an infinitely long list of movies that we want to watch and so far have put a pretty good dent in it. One of my favorites that we've watched so far is "Going the Distance". Such a cute, funny, feel good movie! I was afraid it was going to be too much of a chick flick but Cody loved it too! It's worth a watch and I am currently stalking it in the stores so I can buy it!
For the update, he is doing great! Of course he is still in pain :( but he is being such a trooper! He came home with one tube still in him, which we named Walter...and the doctor's finally took him out last Tuesday, which makes things much more comfortable for him! Good riddance, Walter! Only a few weeks more and he should be back to norm :)
Any suggestions of good movies, new or old, that we can add to our infinity list?
Friday night- Movie night I never thought I'd say it but this movie wasn't half bad. Maybe it was because I had literally NO hope for it from the start? It was chosen for the mere fact that we wanted to use my dad's most recent mid life crisis purchase, his 3D TV...So unnecessary...
Saturday night - Game night Bezzerwizzer is my new favorite game! I always love a good game night...friends, games, wine...what's not to love :)
Sunday - After a day of working on Summer Camp plans (I will be sharing the position as camp director this year!) I plan on relaxing and watching The Grammy's. fo. sho.
Once again, my weekend highlight was tailgating! It is one of my happy places, have I mentioned that?
Backing up to Friday, I FINALLY got called for my first day of substitute teaching! Such a relief to finally be getting calls! I slept through my first phone call (due to my phone being on silent from waitressing the night before! :( I have changed my ringer to a loud obnoxious one and make sure it's on full blast each night) and I chickened out my second time getting called (because it was for seniors in high school and, let's face it, I still look 16...BUT I have vowed to accept any and all jobs that I get called for in the future, scary high school seniors included!) All this glory was almost ruined when I got a flat tire half way to the school... I held back tears and called my mom who came to my rescue! I made it to the school on time and had an awesome first day of subbing for first grade! It reminded me why I want to be a teacher and how wonderful it is to be in the classroom as opposed to a jobless post grad. I'm hoping that since I have gotten 3 calls in the past week and a half that this is a good sign!
Saturday most of the bridesmaids met with our bride-to-be (one of my best friends, Kay) and her mom to finish up some last minute shower planning, and to discuss the bachelorette party and wedding plans as well. The shower is next weekend, the bachelotette party is in 3 weeks and the wedding is now less than 3 months away on December 11!
After our wedding planning sesh, the tailgating crew (including our husband-to-be's parents which was a fun surprise!) cuddled up and watched Paranormal Activity. I love a good scary movie, but this one was terrifying! For me anyways. If you're into scary movies I would recommend it just because it seems real and should give you a good scare, although some of us complained that it was a little slow, and I would have to agree. I think I would have had nightmares but luckily we had one big giant sleepover so I felt safe, even when Kay and Brandon's apartment was making scary noises all through the night :)
We got up bright and early at 5 AM again to tailgate and we are now 3 for 3 for having an awesome time tailgating! We watched the game at the Blind Pig, and what made the day even more amazing was that we beat the Bengals! It's about time the Browns won a game! I'm not going to complain (much) because we won...BUT my question is where is Eric Wright's head at?! Every team we play knows damn well to cover Cribbs and their defense is on him instantly, yet Wright showed poor effort to cover T.O. when he knows (or should know) damn well that's who to cover. Imagine if Wright would actually do his job well? I mean you're only getting paid millions of dollars....you could at least pretend to try and do your homework before you hit the playing field sheesh.
Lindsay, Kay and me! Best friends :)
Cuddled up like grannies!
Love my Lindsay!
Most of the girls!
Girls flip cup team!
Pictures by the FREE stamp...Always necessary!
Good Times! Had to borrow some of Lindsay's pictures! I wasn't the best paparazzi this time around!
"I love this city because of the hard working people that are here. It's a blue-collar town. When I think of Cleveland, I think of myself. They accept their football players with open arms and they show up every Sunday win, lose, or draw" - Peyton Hillis {my boyfriend} ;)
Lebron who? Hillis is the man! How refreshing to have a professional sports player on a Cleveland team NOT trash talking this great city of ours and who appreciates their fans (Ahem, EDWARDS & LeBRON!)
